In 1997, to celebrate the next 40th anniversary of Barbie (1959-1999), Mattel created a collection of 12 Barbies as a Limited Edition. The intention is to pay homage to some Barbie’s "historical" clothing, which had a particular success at the time of their release, when they were sold only as accessories, separately from the doll. The "The Collectors' Request", therefore, responds to the "request" of collectors who can review clothing created between the late fifties and the sixties, directly worn by Barbie. The collection starts in 1997 and ends in 2006. Of course, the chosen Barbies are reproductions of the coeval models of the original outfits…

Nel 1997, per celebrare il prossimo quarantesimo anniversario di Barbie (1959-1999), la Mattel crea una collezione di 12 Barbie a Edizione Limitata. L'intenzione è quella di rendere omaggio ad alcuni abbigliamenti "storici", di Barbie, che hanno avuto un particolare successo all'epoca della loro uscita, quando erano stati venduti solo come accessori, separatamente dalla bambola. La "The Collectors' Request", dunque, risponde alla "richiesta" dei collezionisti che possono rivedere abbigliamenti creati tra la fine degli anni '50 e gli anni '60, direttamente indossati da Barbie. La collezione inizia nel 1997 e si conclude nel 2006. Le Barbie scelte sono, naturalmente, le riproduzioni dei modelli coevi degli outfit originali...

This magazine does not present a real collection, but more a theme. The topic could be "Barbie in uniform": the famous doll has shown, in its 60 years of existence, of 1959 to today, to be able to undertake any type of career and profession. From 1989 to 2012 we have Barbie in the Army, in the Marines, in the Navy and in Aviation. Some emblematic models have been chosen for example of these careers; in another magazine these Barbies were combined with Gi-Joe, produced by Hasbro, who wore the same uniforms, thus creating curious pairs of two doll emblems that have made history!

Questa rivista non presenta una collezione vera e propria, ma più che altro un tema. L'argomento potrebbe essere "Barbie in divisa": la famosa bambola ha dimostrato, nei suoi 60 anni di esistenza, del 1959 a oggi, di poter intraprendere qualunque tipo di carriera e professione. Dal 1989 al 2012 abbiamo così Barbie nell'Esercito, nei Marines, in Marina e in Aviazione. Sono stati scelti alcuni modelli emblematici ad esempio di queste carriere; in un'altra rivista queste Barbie sono state abbinate a Gi-Joe, prodotti dalla Hasbro, che hanno indossato le stesse divise, creando così delle curiose coppie fra due emblemi di bambole che hanno fatto epoca!

It was the year 1964, when Hasbro presented "Action Soldier": with delight of those the children – so as we are still today; they could begin to "play the war", having a whole full armed army! Action Soldiers, Action Marines, Action Pilots, Action Sailors: all the weapons of the American Army were represented. And what does Barbie have to do with it?Barbie had been born in the Mattel house for five years earlier and had already involved the girls with their impeccable "outfits" in various domestic and working adventures, being the fashion doll always up to every situation. Already in 1968 finished the "Military Era of G.I. Joe, while Barbie's military career started in 1989 only.... In this publication we want to "mix the cards" in order to relive G.I.Joe's military adventures together: Joe and Barbie. Have a good time!

Correva l’anno 1964, Hasbro presentava il nostro ‘Action Soldier’: con delizia gli allora bambini – Che siamo noi ancora oggi – poterono incominciare a ‘giocare alla guerra’ disponendo di un intero esercito armato di tutto punto! Action Soldiers, Action Marines, Action Pilots, Action Sailors erano cosi rappresentate tutte le armi dell’Esercito Americano. E Barbie, cosa c’entra? Barbie era ‘nata’ in casa Mattel un lustro prima e avava già coninvolto le allora bambine con le sue impeccabili ‘meese’ in avventure domestiche e lavorative dove Barbie si presentava sempre all’altezza di ogni situazione. Già con il 1968 finiva la ‘Military Era di G.I. Joe, mentre la carriera militare Barbie la intraprende solo nel 1989… In questa pubblicazione si è voluto ‘Mischiare Le Carte’ per far rivivere assieme le avventure militari di G.I.Joe e Barbie. Buon divertimento!
